Nineteen years into the job, Peter says the Pride of Britain consortium is in better shape than ever, with 50 outstanding member hotels and 20 respected commercial partners (including Classic FM and the Morgan Motor Company), taking its annual marketing budget above £1m for the first time since Pride of Britain was formed in 1982.

Among the many useful services PoB provides for its members, referrals from the website hit new records in 2018 (averaging 19,000 click-throughs to member hotel sites per month, a 60% rise on the previous year), as did electronic reservations (consistently above £2m per month, a rise of almost 20% on the previous year).

Recognition of the brand passed the 50% mark for the first time in 2018 – based on a sample of 1,038 people questioned at two RHS flower shows and at member hotels on a single date in September. 51.8% said they were aware of Pride of Britain Hotels.
