Having recently sold the Abbey Hotel, Bath, Ian and Christa Taylor have now acquired a new property to take their portfolio back up to two.

The pair, who operate under the Kaleidoscope Collection, currently own No.15 Great Pulteney in Bath and now plan to turn new acquisition County Hotel Bath into a boutique hotel and sister property for No.15.

After selling the Abbey in February this year, this takeover marks the start of a new chapter for the Collection, with Ian and Christa now setting their sights on ‘several new acquisitions’.

They will now transform the 22-bedroom County Hotel Bath, adding eight new bedrooms, refreshing the lower ground floor into a social hub and creating an established hotel with a private townhouse feel.

During the year, the County will host a series of pop-up venues outside, including a beach bar, street-food barbecues and a winter wonderland.

As with every Kaleidoscope property, The Taylors will work with local businesses and creative talent to give the County a new identity, which is expected to take two years to complete.

A new hotel manager has been appointed, with Wayne Darnell, an experienced member of the Kaleidoscope team in front of house and IT operations roles, taking the helm of the new venture.

“We’re delighted that County Hotel Bath marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the Kaleidoscope Collection,” said Ian Taylor, “and we’re very much looking forward to see what the next few years will bring.”
