Bath hoteliers Ian and Christa Taylor have acquired Homewood Park to join their group of hotels, the Kaleidoscope Collection.
The couple, who already run No.15 Great Pulteney and The County Hotel, have purchased the four-star, 21-bedroom hotel in Freshford from Longleat Group Hotels, who have owned the property since 2011 when it acquired the business out of administration from Von Essen.
The Taylors will now transform Homewood Park into a ‘laid-back’ country getaway, with a kitchen garden, shepherd’s huts, plus onsite artisans who will produce everything from ceramics to homeware, which guests will be able to purchase and take home.
Overseeing the kitchen will be executive chef Marc Hardiman, who was recently appointed, boasting experience with the likes of Great Fosters in Egham, where he led the team to win three AA Rosettes and a Michelin star.
He will develop a new restaurant concept for Homewood Park, focusing on home-grown produce and dishes ‘designed for maximum flavour’.
The bedrooms, public spaces, restaurant and spa will all be refreshed, while the next phase of the project will see collaborations with local businesses and creative talent to give Homewood a completely new identity.
“We’re delighted that Homewood continues the next phase of growth for the Kaleidoscope Collection,” said Ian Taylor. “Adding a relaxed country house hotel to the group has been part of our long-term plan for some time now and we’re very much looking forward to welcoming the locals of Freshford and visitors alike in the early stages of this exciting new chapter.”
The Kaleidoscope Collection comprises the 40-bedroom No.15 Great Pulteney, which opened in December 2016 and The County Hotel, Bath, which was acquired in March 2018.
The next phase of the County Hotel will see the addition of a pop-up Winter Wonderland for the festive season, the bedroom count increase from 22 to 31, the addition of a lift, as well as a reconfiguration of the smaller rooms to make them more spacious.
The acquisition of Homewood Park continues the next phase of planned growth for The Kaleidoscope Collection which will continue throughout 2018 and beyond.
