Lake District hotel sold for first time in 50 years to ‘established hoteliers’ expanding portfolio

The Fish Inn in the Lake District has been sold to new owners for the first time in 50 years.

Christie + Co has completed on the sale of the 10-bedroom country inn with views over Buttermere on behalf of Jean and John Richardson who have owned the property since 1968.

Incoming owners Mike and Abi Martin, who operate the Allerdale Court Hotel in Cockermouth, acquired The Fish Inn on a freehold basis off an asking price of £1,350,000.

Alongside the 10 bedrooms, the hotel features a breakfast room and lounge for guests with a public bar and restaurant with around 70 covers.

Alistair Greenhalgh, director at Christie & Co, handled the sale and comments: “Hotels within the Lake District continue to prove desirable as and when they come to the market, and The Fish Inn was no exception, with multiple expressions of interest from potential purchasers.”
