Leeu Collection appoints new area GM to spearhead reopening of Linthwaite House

Leeu Collection has appointed a new area general manager to drive the reopening of Linthwaite House this year following an extensive refurbishment and extension.

The group has welcomed Christophe Mercier to the role to oversee UK and Ireland. Based in London, his first focus will be the relaunch of the Lake District’s Linthwaite House in March 2018, followed by the opening of a London property on Newman Street in 2020.

Mercier’s career in the industry spans more than 25 years, having held a number of senior management roles at the likes of Starwood Hotels, plus roles at the Hotel Danieli in Venice, The Palace Hotel in San Francisco and the W Paris Opera.

Commenting on his appointment, he said, “Joining the Leeu Collection provides a unique opportunity to collaborate with a visionary and passionate owner, as well as expert team members, in the future development of this young brand’s journey, which, for me as an hotelier, is a lifetime dream. We already have solid foundations in South Africa’s Franschhoek on which we can build, creating more Leeu properties with exceptional selling points in the United Kingdom and Italy, while seeking other opportunities to grow our portfolio.”

Owner and founder of the Leeu Collection Analjit Singh added, “I am delighted to welcome an hotelier as seasoned as Christophe to the Leeu family and I very much look forward to working closely with him as we grow the brand over the coming years.”
