Lincolnshire Showground floats the potential of new hotel development

A plot of land on the cusp of the entrance to Lincolnshire Showground is being marketed for the potential development of a new hotel.

Hodgson Elkington is on the hunt for an operator for the site, which is thought could help bring extra custom and boost visitor spend at the Showground that has seen an increase in delegates using the space for conferences, exhibitions and fairs recently.

Jayne Southall, chief executive of the Showground said that the site was keen to attract more visitors and a new hotel ‘would be key’ to enhancing the facilities and encouraging people to stay longer.

She said: “Demand for hotel accommodation around Lincoln is continually growing with the increasing business travel, extra focus on more tourism to the city, and growth of the university.”

Sam Elkington, senior partner at Hodgson Elkington, added: “This follows the opening of the new Riseholme College Campus in September last year and with one of the two recently consented plots for offices already under offer demonstrates the Showground’s real determination to continue expanding the range of services and facilities on the site for the future.”
