A London-based pub and dining group is to build a new 16-bedroom boutique hotel in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter.

Mosaic Pub & Dining is to create a hotel next door to The Button Factory, a pub owned by the group which opened its doors in 2016.

The company, which employs over 400 staff across its 21 sites in London and the Midlands, confirmed to the acquisition of the building to Birmingham Mail, costing £1.3m with three other city food pubs included in the deal.

Mosaic has also acquired Edmunds Bar, The Rectory and The Queens Arms from B3 Bar Ltd, an independent hospitality company, to add to its portfolio in the region, which features The Distillery

The building where the new 16-bedroom boutique hotel will be situated is a derelict 1860’s Grade-II property, which was a former goldsmiths.

Plans for the development were first unveiled in November 2017, with documents accompanying the application saying:

“The public benefit of having this building brought back into active use after so long far outweighs any harm to the interior of the building necessary to effect that new use.”
