The general manager of three hotels in London is to move into ownership after acquiring his first hotel business in the New Forest.

Maurizio Redaelli is the cluster general manager for Starhotels in the UK, which includes The Franklin, The Pelham and The Gore, and together with his wife Francesca Mannone has now taken over Cottage Lodge Hotel in Brockenhurst.

Redaelli has worked in luxury hotels in London, Paris and Brussels for the last 24 years and has been with Starhotels since January 2017, overseeing the opening of the group’s third property in the UK, The Franklin in 2018.

Mannone studied hotel management in London and worked in luxury hotels in Italy and Brussels for eight years. She also worked in retail marketing in Paris for five years before moving to London to launch a social media company.

Now the pair will look to position the 16-bedroom Cottage Lodge Hotel as the first 100% sustainable hotel in the New Forest, working with local suppliers to minimise their carbon footprint.

Redaelli comments: “We are both excited and delighted to be taking over Cottage Lodge Hotel which has gained such a fabulous reputation over recent years both for its fantastic location and outstanding customer service. We intend to take it to the next level, and we have a dream to make Cottage Lodge 100% sustainable.”

Over time, Maurizio and Francesca intend to redevelop the rooms at Cottage Lodge, though the beds carved from fallen New Forest trees and made by a local wood sculpture will remain.
