London’s Sleep show evolves to hone in on restaurants and bars

Sleep, the design exhibition held in London in November, is to become Sleep + Eat as it widens its appeal to the restaurant and bar sector.

This year the show will also relocate to the National Hall in Olympia from its previous home of the Business Design Centre in North London.

Sleep + Eat will take place on Tuesday 20 November to Wednesday 21 November and the decision to rebrand comes after research among exhibitors, visitors and stakeholders who have been involved in Sleep over the years.

The new-look show will bid to ‘recognise the growing independence of restaurants, bars and hotels in creating the full hospitality design experience’.

While no noticeable changes will occur – Sleep + Eat will still comprise an international exhibition, a conference and the Sleep Set – the 2018 edition will also be joined by the new Eat Set.

Mark Gordon, brand director of Sleep + Eat, explains: “Sleep has been phenomenally successful with year-on-year growth in visitor numbers and an increasingly global profile while retaining all the values that make it so special.

“Sleep + Eat will allow us to build logically and thoughtfully on this legacy and the move to Olympia means we will have more space to do so. It will ensure that new ideas and first-time exhibitors, together with respected industry names and established design-led suppliers, will continue to fuel the event and that we can give space to our community of hoteliers, restaurateurs, owners and other industry professionals to see design excellence in all its forms.”
