Lucky Onion boss blazes a trail with new ‘gin & juice’ bar business

A new Gin & Juice bar will open this week at No. 131 on The Promenade, a boutique hotel part of the Lucky Onion group owned by Julian Dunkerton.

The new opening is Dunkerton’s latest addition to the portfolio, and is an investment with friend Steve Baker.

The new bar, formerly Crazy Eights, will offer more than 350 gin varieties, as well as an all-day brunch menu.

No. 131 is the second site for Gin & Juice, following the brand’s debut in Cardiff, with the pair planning a national roll out of five further sites throughout the rest of this year.

The Lucky Onion Group comprises No. 131, No. 38 The Park, The Tavern, The Wild Duck in Cirencester and The Wheatsheaf Inn in Northleach.

Entrepreneur Dunkerton stepped down from his position on the board of Superdry plc, the international fashion chain he founded, earlier this year to pursue other business interests.

Since then he has been investing in his family’s cider business, Dunkertons Cider, now relocated to Dowdeswell Estate near Cheltenham, and building up his Lucky Onion portfolio.
