Fishmore Hall in the foodie village of Ludlow has announced the appointment of Andrew Birch as the hotel’s new head chef.
Birch joins the 15-bedroom boutique from 3AA Rosette Michelin-starred Montagu Arms in Hampshire, where he was senior sous chef. He will now work closely with Fishmore Hall’s owner and Acorn Award winner, Laura Penman to relaunch the hotel’s Forelles restaurant ready for spring 2015.
Birch has racked up a number of prestigious titles throughout his career, including Welsh Chef of the Year in 2004, Young Chef Apprentice of Britain in 2005 and Young Chef Apprentice of Europe in 2005.
He was also a finalist in the Roux Regional Scholarship in 2006.
Birch said: "I’m really excited about being at Fishmore Hall. I think that the hotel and restaurant have a great reputation already and is an ideal starting platform for me to build upon.”
