Malmaison breaks ground on new Bournemouth boutique part of £40m development

Demolition is underway at the old Belvedere Hotel in Bournemouth to make way for a new Malmaison hotel and residential flats as part of a £40m development in the town.

News broke in October of plans for the boutique brand to construct a new hotel on the site, which was gutted by fire last year.

The hotel will be home to 100 bedrooms, Chez Mal bar and brasserie and a rooftop terrace, gym swimming pool and spa rooms.

Building will officially commence in the new year once the site in Bath Road is cleared and is expected to last around two years.

Once open in 2020, the new Malmaison will mark the brand’s 16th in the country.

The Belvedere is almost 160-years-old and has undergone many changes since then, but has been derelict for two years.

Malmaison has partnered with Fresh Lime Developments for the project, who will build the block of flats for the planned development.
