Malmaison signs agreement for 100-bed boutique in Bournemouth

Malmaison Hotel du Vin has taken steps to bring its Malmaison brand to the seaside town of Bournemouth.

The brand has announced it has now signed a development agreement to build a multi-million pound Malmaison on Bath Road, with construction work due to begin in 2018.

The new hotel will offer over 100 bedrooms and suites, with the development expected to generate 85 new local jobs.

The hotel will also bring Chez Mal Bar and Brasserie to Bournemouth, with a rooftop bar and terrace.

The brand’s meeting and events concept Work + Play will also be introduced, with high tech systems and private meeting pods. There will also be a gym, swimming pool and beauty room.

The news comes following a period of significant growth over the last 12 months for the group. Recent highlights include the plans to introduce Malmaison to York and the continued roll-out of Chez Mal and Work + Play, both part of a wider multi-million pound investment programme in the brand.

Guus Bakker, chief executive officer, Malmaison Hotel du Vin, said: “Bournemouth is a fantastic destination. The vibrancy of the town means that it is also a perfect location for the Malmaison brand.  We look forward to working closely with all local stakeholders to bring this exciting opportunity to life.”
