Managing director at The Lanesborough to move on after three years

Managing director at The Lanesborough London Marco Novella is to move on from his role after almost three years.

Novella was appointed MD at the five-star 93-bedroom hotel in July 2018, following the departure of Geoffrey Gelardi, who had been in the role for 28 years.

Prior to his position at The Lanesborough, Novella was managing director at Brown’s Hotel London for nearly two years.

Now he is to move to Venice to head up Cipriani, A Belmond Hotel as MD from next week.

Announcing his move on LinkedIn, Novella said: “Some of you may or may not be aware that my time has come to say farewell to London and The Lanesborough.

“I would like to personally thank each and every one of our wonderful guests who I had the pleasure of meeting during my time at the Lanesborough. There isn’t a word great enough to thank you all for your continued support and loyalty to the Lanesborough and the team.

“Of course I must mention our fantastic friends, travel agents, journalists, commercial business partners and suppliers for your support also. It has been a joy to work with you all.”

The Lanesborough is owned by the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and since its relaunch in 2015 has been managed by the German-based Oetker Collection.
