The hotly-anticipated new hotel from YTL Hotels, the Monkey Island Estate, is to open in February 2019 with a ‘floating’ spa.
The new property, situated on a private island in Bray, will open early next year with 41 bedrooms, six individual residences dotted around the estate, a brasserie, plus a new wellness concept, The Floating Spa.
Created by the YTL Hotels’ wellness experts at Spa Village, the new spa will be completely based on water and consist of three treatment rooms, a bright wheelhouse reception and Elixir Bar, moored on the banks of the island.
Alongside new and innovative treatments focused on wellness, the Experimental Teahouse will grow medicinal plants and herbs that will be used at the on-board Elixir Bar, based on the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries’ barge that traded along the Thames in the 1700s.
Monkey Island Estate, which has a colourful history dating back 800 years, was acquired by YTL Corporation in May 2015, and has been undergoing a multi-million renovation ever since, with general manager Lee Kelly overseeing the development.
The 38 bedrooms and three deluxe suites have been designed by New York-based Champalimaud Design.
