The new £15M Shankly Hotel Preston, which is currently under development, has confirmed that it will house a permanent football memorabilia exhibition in honour of the late Sir Tom Finney CBE and Bill Shankly OBE.
The Grade-II listed building former post office building is being renovated in a project spearheaded by Signature Living, and co-owner Christopher ‘William Shankly’ Carline, the grandson of Liverpool FC manager Bill Shankly.
The 114-year-old building is to be transformed into a 65-bedroom boutique hotel and spa and will become the second Shankly Hotel to open, joining the debut property in Liverpool.
Now it’s been revealed that a rare collection of unique football memorabilia from Sir Tom Finney and Sir Bill Shankly’s football careers will adorn the interiors of the new hotel, donated by the Finney family, Shankly family and The National Football Museum, marking a permanent memorial to the two football stars.
Christopher ‘William Shankly’ Carline met with Brian Finney, the son of Sir Tom to curate and agree the collection of unique items.
Carline said: “I am thrilled and delighted to confirm that we now have agreed our Shankly Hotel memorabilia collaboration with the Finney family. The family have agreed to provide a number of unique items which will make this a truly outstanding collaboration and one which will be unique.”
The Shankly Hotel Preston is due to open to the public in June 2019. Get a FIRST LOOK here.
