New Corner London City hotel recruits head chef

The Corner London City, which opened last month, has announced the appointment of a head chef for its new restaurant.

The former Qbic London City Hotel relaunched in September following a three-month rebrand and has now brought in Stephen Tims to head up its new eatery, which focuses on ‘elevated’ street food with a local twist.

Dishes will include varieties such as Caribbean jerk chicken and Mexican Elote.

RBH Hospitality Management spearheaded the relaunch of the 183-bedroom hotel in East London last month.

Commenting on his own appointment, head chef Stephen Tims said: “This is such an exciting time to join a newly opened hotel in a buzzing part of London among such a passionate and enthusiastic team. The open kitchen style in the restaurant was a particular allure for me as I thrive on being a part of the action and soaking up the atmosphere among guests. The vibrancy of the hotel is evident as soon as you walk in and the authenticity of the sustainability is what initially drew me to the role.

On the restaurant’s opening, general manager Arun Kumar said: “We’ve had an unfathomably positive start since opening our doors as a hotel in September and we’re thrilled to now be extending our offering to culinary experiences too. Stephen joins us with seven years of head chef experience as the perfect leader to deliver the catering vision we have at The Corner London City which is driven by inclusivity and sustainability.”
