While The Montagu Arms in the New Forest gives its main kitchen a complete revamp, head chef Matthew Tomkinson has launched a nostalgic ‘Best of the Terrace’ menu to entice diners.
The Michelin-starred Terrace restaurant has been a hit with foodies since 2009 when it first gained its ‘star’ and now ahead of the completion of its new-look kitchen, Tomkinson is offering guests a chance to try some of his favourite signature dishes from the past eight years.
The menu, which will be available until the kitchen refurbishment is finished on the 7th April, will see Tomkinson and his team celebrate some of the dishes that have put the Terrace restaurant on the culinary map including favourites such as spiced diver caught Scottish scallops and ‘lasagne’ of slow cooked oxtail.
Tomkinson comments: During the period of renovation, we wanted to really showcase some of our favourite dishes from the past 8 years. Our menu has been designed to highlight some of the suppliers both locally and further afield who continue to support us with exceptional, fresh and seasonal produce on a daily basis.
The kitchen refurbishment will see the current space expanded, thanks to a new extension to the existing building, a complete redesign of the layout of the kitchen to allow for a smoother operation, and the installation of energy-efficient and sustainable kitchen equipment.
