New general manager at Charingworth Manor puts wedding market in focus

Charingworth Manor has appointed a new general manager, who now plans to build on the hotel’s wedding business.

Anna Asimakopoulou has been appointed to head up the Classic Lodges’ property, joining with experience at the likes of IHG and various hotels in London, as well as four- and five-star boutiques in the Cotswolds and Worcester.

She has held positions at a number of hotel groups in the UK since 2001 – starting at Thistle Marble Arch, before moving to Accor as rooms division manager.

Now as part of her new role at the 26-bedroom Charingworth Manor, she will focus on growing the weddings and events market, and building on previous success.

Asimakopoulou takes over from the interim appointment of Colin Heaney.

“Anna has excellent international experience which will be essential for a hotel that has visitors from all over the world,” says Richard Grime, managing director of Classic Lodges. “Her passion for the industry is proving to be a great addition to the group.”

“We have excellent teams throughout the hotel, and our reputation for dinner and afternoon teas is well known,” Asimakopoulou says. “I want to grow this reputation to attract more people to visit for lunch – we have wonderful gardens with incredible views over five counties which make the perfect setting for a bite to eat.”

Classic Lodges has a portfolio of 10 hotels including Solberge Hall, Northallerton, North Yorkshire; the Old Swan, Harrogate, North Yorkshire; Grovefield House, near Windsor, Berkshire; and Charingworth Manor, Chipping, Campden, Gloucestershire, as well as seven partner hotels.
