Hotel du Vin Birmingham has welcomed a new general manager as the property’s former head honcho moves into retail.
The hotel in Church Street operated by the boutique brand has welcomed Barry Sherwin to the role of GM, replacing Tony Elvin who has left to run Touchwood Shopping Centre in Solihull.
Sherwin has 25 years of management experience in hospitality, including stints running operations for restaurant brand Gusto and as managing director of hospitality management consultancy Thomas Crown Affairs.
He said: “I am looking forward to taking the baton from my good friend Tony Elvin who has done a fantastic job over the last five and a half years.
“I’ll bring my experience of fast, quality guest service from Gusto and further enhance the great experience at Hotel du Vin.
“It’s always been my favourite bar and restaurant in town, now I’m looking to speed up the service to those who want it.”
