New GM hire at De Vere Tortworth Court signals hotel’s £5m refurb close to completion

South Gloucestershire-based hotel De Vere Tortworth Court has announced the appointment of a new general manager as the property nears completion of its £5 refurbishment programme.

Barclay joins the De Vere Tortworth team with twenty years of experience of working within the hospitality industry. Barclay previously held the position of general manager at St David’s Hotel & Spa in Cardiff, as well as the general manager role at Principal Edinburgh.

During his career he has worked with several hotel groups including Accor Hotels, Thistle Hotels, and Hanover International Hotels.

Barclay said: “I’m thrilled to join the team at De Vere Tortworth Court. With the conclusion of the property’s refurbishment in sight, with a refresh to the hotel’s signature restaurant and new bar to be completed early autumn, it’s a particularly exciting time to join. De Vere Tortworth Court is one of the portfolio’s most beautiful and historical properties and I am looking forward to being a part of its next chapter.”

The completion of De Vere Tortworth Court’s refurbishment marks another important milestone in De Vere’s wider £100m country estate hotel renovation project, which places the mansion house at the epi-centre of the group’s country estate portfolio.
