A new general manager has been appointed at Abbey Bath Hotel, a few months on from the property’s new ownership takeover.

Josh Watts joins from his position at the Mercure Bristol Grand Hotel and will take over from Andrew Foulkes, who was general manager at the Abbey Bath for the past four years before leaving last month to take up a role at the Emily Estate and Hadspen House in Somerset, which is under development.

The Abbey Bath was previously owned by Ian and Christa Taylor, who sold the the 62-bedroom hotel and Allium restaurant in February to KE Hotels, headed up by Anil Khanna as managing director.

Anil Khanna, managing director of KE Hotels says, “We are thrilled to welcome Josh on board during this exciting phase for the Abbey Hotel. He brings experience, flair and enthusiasm to the team and will be pivotal in realising our potential within the marketplace.”

Watts started his career on the Malmaison graduate management programme. From here he joined Hotel du Vin Newcastle as pre-opening duty manager where he was responsible for launching a hotel from a building site to a team of 60.

He has also worked at Hotel du Vin Bristol as deputy general manager, where he worked alongside all other departments to improve hotel sales strategy.
