Hotel du Vin Cheltenham has welcomed Chris Thompson as general manager.
Responsible for driving the business forward, Thompson will oversee the day to day operations of the hotel and the development of his team.
He joins from Malmaison, Hotel du Vin’s sister brand, where he had been since April 2013, most recently as deputy general manager of Malmaison Leeds.
Thompson, who officially started on March 1 spent his first week managing the hotel during one of its busiest periods of the year, Cheltenham Festival.
He said: “It was a brilliant week for the hotel, we welcomed 300 guests each day and the atmosphere was fantastic. It’s these kind of memorable experiences that I think makes a hotel stand out, and I look forward to creating more like this.”
Located close to The Promenade, in the Montpellier district, Hotel du Vin has a classic Georgian exterior and is home to 49 bedrooms.
Nick Halliday, chief operations officer, said, “We’re delighted to welcome Chris to the brand. He’s done some excellent work at Malmaison and we believe he’ll be a real asset to both the hotel and the brand. I look forward to working with him.”
