Gisborough Hall has welcomed a new head chef who has been tasked with relaunching the bistro at the hotel and introducing a series of new menus.

The four-star Yorkshire hotel has appointed David Sotheran to the role, who returns to Gisborough Hall following a stint in the kitchen from January 2005 to October 2014.

He has since worked at restaurants around the country, cooking for a host of famous faces including Princess Anne.

Now back in the kitchen at Gisborough Hall as head chef, Sotheran will be responsible for relaunching the bistro at the hotel and creating new menus for Chaloner’s, the hotel’s award-winning restaurant.

Sotheran said: “It’s a delight to return to the heart of Gisborough Hall as head chef. It’s such an exciting time as we’re going through many changes, not least re-launching the bistro.

“I’m a passionate advocate of local suppliers- and using as much seasonal game and fish in my dishes. We’ve teamed up with the best of the best and I can’t wait to share my new menus.”

Ruairidh Taylor, hotel manager, said: “We’re all really excited to have David back at Gisborough Hall. He’s got some tasty ideas for our new menus and has spent a lot of time putting together his brigade of chefs, made up of lots of local talent.”

Gisborough Hall became a fully-independent and self-managed hotel in April 2017 and employs over 100 local people across the hotel, in its restaurants, bars and Revival Zone.
