New Place, managed by Legacy Hotel and Resorts, has celebrated the first cohort of graduates from its training academy.
The New Place Academy, which was launched last year, has been the result of a working partnership between the hotel and Chichester College’s Hospitality, Travel & Tourism department.
Staff from all areas of the hotel completed an NCFE Level 2 Certificate in ‘Understanding Excellence in Customer Service for Hospitality’ through personal study, one-to-one meetings and providing evidence drawn from their work at the hotel for assessment.
After a celebratory tea for graduates and their mentors, certificated and pins were presented to staff Alin Tanase, Evangelos Nikoloudakos, Eleanor Butler, Jacinta Martin and Robert Green.
General manager Richard Powell said: “The purpose of our Academy is to raise aspiration, qualification and achievement across our entire workforce, regardless of position or background.’
“We’ve learned a lot along the way and hope this first cohort will provide inspiration and support for the second who will start their courses later this year.”
The 100-bedroom hotel was acquired by Legacy Hotels in 2017 and has since undergone a £1.3m refurbishment.
