A new pop-up restaurant is to open at Watergate Bay, in the space that previously housed Fifteen Cornwall eatery.
Opening on Thursday July 9, Emily Scott Food will offered ‘relaxed dining with the safety of social distancing’ serving a menu of ‘hyper-local’ cuisine from Tuesdays to Saturdays for lunch and dinner.
Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Cornwall restaurant closed its doors in December 2019. The restaurant opened in 2006 and was run by the Cornwall Food Foundation, which trained unemployed people to work in its kitchen nearby.
The new Emily Scott Food restaurant will be run by Emily, who built a reputation heading the kitchen at St Tudy Inn, together with her partner Bordeaux winemaker Mark Hellyar.
Emily says: “My own story began with warm memories of a childhood in Provence with my grandfather, Papa, collecting strawberries from the fields to the hum of crickets in the hot sun. It then slowly winds its way through Cornish country lanes to its beautiful golden sandy beaches. I translate this experience through turning locally-sourced ingredients into delicious, rustic dishes that are so deceptively simple you can even recreate them at home.”
Watergate Bay Hotel reopened its doors on July 5 after the coronavirus lockdown. In June, we spoke to CEO Will Ashworth on his reopening expectations as part of our Hot Seat video series.
