The newest Artist Residence in Oxfordshire achieves five stars and 2 Rosettes six months after launch

Mr Hanbury’s Mason Arms in Oxfordshire, the site from husband and wife team Justin and Charlotte Salisbury, has been awarded five stars and a 2 AA Rosette rating just six months after first opening its doors to the public.

Part of the Artist Residence collection, Mr Hanbury’s in South Leigh launched in July following a complete transformation of the former 16th century pub into the brand’s signature quirky boutique style.

The property is home to five bedrooms and has been designed by Charlotte and Justin, with each room decked out with an English bohemian style. The couple have hand-picked pieces from their favourite auction houses and reclamation yards to complement the existing features, whilst William Morris and House of Hackney wallpaper and a personally curated collection of artwork also feature.

The rating brings a huge boost to the property and the kitchen under the guidance of head chef Leon Smith.

Proprietor Charlotte Salisbury says: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been acknowledged by The AA for the quality of our newest hotel in Oxfordshire, and for Leon’s outstanding cooking for Mr Hanbury’s Mason Arms. A lot of hard work has been poured into the project over the past year and we’re all really proud.”

The Artist Residence brand consists of properties in Brighton, Pimlico, and Cornwall, with a further hotel due to open in Bristol in 2018.
