A newly-established pub company has expanded with the acquisition of the Swan Inn at Ascott-under-Wychwood, marking the group’s second Cotswolds property in the portfolio.

Pub operators Pack Taverns, which is run by Charlie and Willow Crossley and started in 2015, acquired the seven-bedroom hotel off the asking price of £599,500.

The Swan Inn has seven bedrooms, with room for expansion, and enjoys strong garden trade during the summer.

Pack Taverns currently owns and operates The Bull at Charlbury, which they hope will be ‘the first of many’ acquisitions for the group.

The group successfully revamped The Bull and will hope to do something similar with The Swan Inn.

Colliers International hotels director Peter Brunt said: “The seven letting bedrooms have added an extra dimension to the premises and there is scope for adding another room. In addition there is a popular function room along with owners’ accommodation and office facilities.”

Brunt said The Swan had been closed when the current owners Richard Haddon and Michiel Verkoren bought it. They re-launched in 2013 during a break from their careers in the theatre.

Michiel, a fully qualified chef, worked alongside the head chef although their renovation work was focused on the function room.
