Luxury boutique hotel Northcote has concluded its gastronomic event Obsession, which saw world-famous chefs come together to impress and delight with their best dishes over a 17-night period.
Now in its 17th year, the event brought together 22 chefs from nine countries and four continents with a total of 16 Michelin stars between them to celebrate some of the world’s finest cuisine.
From January 20 to February 5, chefs from Italy, Australia, Portugal, China, USA, Japan, Slovenia and from several locations in the UK, travelled to Northcote to host a night of their own, each creating a special menu to serve to guests lucky enough to nab a place at the event.
Flying the flag for the UK, were the likes of Michael Wignall from Gidleigh Park, John Williams from The Ritz and Gareth Ward, chef and now stakeholder at Ynyshir restaurant with rooms in Wales.
In total, Obsession hosted over 1,850 guests over the 17-night festival, with the event ‘surpassing all expectations’ at Northcote.
Chef patron, Nigel Haworth said: “2017 has been a very special year for Obsession with chefs from around the world taking part, who were all clearly super conscious of performing at their best.
“There’s been a huge harmony across the whole event with the kitchen to front of house and visiting chefs working together to create 17 nights that the guests have absolutely loved, and loads of people have already said they can’t wait until next year.
“It’s something very special for Northcote, the area, and the UK to have an event like Obsession 17 that is recognised on a global level. We’ve loved showing the friendship and camaraderie that unites chefs from around the UK and the world.”
