Northern hospitality operator launches third boutique hotel after nightclub transformation

A hospitality group in the north has expanded with the launch of its third boutique hotel.

Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group has opened The Lord Street Hotel in Southport following the transformation of a derelict building and the conversion of a nightclub in the group’s portfolio.

The 27-bedroom hotel is home to a function room and a new champagne, wine and tapas bar, which was formally the nightclub Kehpri that the group opened in July 2017.

The bottom floor has been converted from the former Egyptian restaurant into the new hotel space.

Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group also own the Bold Hotel and the Eccleston Arms, which opened in 2016 and 2015 respectively.

Punch Tarney’s Irish pubs in Southport and St Helens are also part of the portfolio.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, chairman of the Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group, Andrew Mikhail, has said he believes The Bold Hotel, and now The Lord Street Hotel will “serve as a catalysts for future investment coming into the town”.
