O’Callaghan Hotels wins approval to construct new hotel in Dublin

O’Callaghan Hotels has won planning approval to construct a new 158-bedroom hotel in Dublin.

The Irish hospitality operator, which runs four hotels in Dublin and one in the UK and one in Gibraltar, is to soon start work on the new eight-storey property and 120-cover restaurant on South Cumberland Street after city councillors gave the project the green light.

Office building, Hospitality House, will be demolished so the work can begin.

Family-owned Persian Properties Ltd, which trades as O’Callaghan Hotels, also owns the adjoining Alex Hotel, the Davenport, The Mont and The Green in Dublin.

Last year the hotels were all refurbished, with a multi-million pound renovation carried out at the three-star Mont Hotel.

The four-star The Tamburlaine in Cambridge is the group’s only UK property, which opened its doors in March 2017.
