Opening of The Pig at Harlyn Bay delayed

Robin Hutson has announced that the opening of The Pig at Harlyn Bay is to be delayed because of the ongoing impact of coronavirus.

The chairman and CEO of LimeWood Group Ltd and Home Grown Hotels Ltd, said that the decision was made with ‘a heavy heart’, with the launch date expected to be pushed back until at least June, when ‘the situation is clearer’.

His full message read: “Following on from my message to you all on Saturday, we have received an overwhelming response of support and encouragement from you all and thank you for this – it really does make a difference in these times!

“I am sure you have seen that the Government has issued updated guidelines which we are digesting and adopting on a daily basis. The latest advice is to avoid restaurants and bars without specifying a ban on these venues so until instructed otherwise, we will be remaining open and welcoming guests into our hotels, whilst all the time upholding the strictest health and hygiene measures. 

“Unfortunately and with a heavy heart we have taken the decision today to postpone the opening of THE PIG – at Harlyn Bay to probably sometime in June when the situation is clearer.

“We will continue to provide you with updates as we receive new information from Downing Street and work out the best way forward in these times, both for our guests and our teams.

“Our top priority is to keep you as safe as possible if you choose to stay, drink and dine with us.   

“We are doing our utmost to ride out this uncertain and difficult global crisis and look after our dedicated team of people to ensure our hotels can and will provide you with a warm welcome escape to the countryside.

“Please continue to come and see us all!”

The new Pig at Harlyn Bay will become the seventh hotel in the collection, part of Home Grown Hotels and broke records when bookings opened in February, with over 1,000 room nights allocated within the first three hours of the reservation lines being open.

The new hotel is part of a £30m expansion programme being rolled out by owners Robin and Judy Hutson, and follows the launch of The Pig at Bridge Place in 2019.

The Pig at Harlyn Bay is set within a Grade-II listed mansion dating back to the 16th century, which sits at the end of a long driveway surrounded by almost five acres of gardens.

Following the opening of The Pig at Harlyn Bay, attention will turn to the launch of The Pig in the South Downs set for spring 2021.
