A hotel in Babbacombe Bay has gone up for sale for £1.1m and is calling for a new owner operator to realise the property’s full potential.

The Babbacombe Bay Hotel in Torquay, which has been refurbished by its current owners from top to bottom in 2013, is in the market as its current owner looks to retire.

The 10-bedroom hotel is home to a panoramic roof terrace and a 48-cover ground floor cafe and posted net sales of £633,466 for the year end April 2017.

Ed Jefferson at Colliers International said that the hotel has been run as a lifestyle business and would benefit from an owner operator coming in to capitalise on the property’s expansion potential.

He said: “The property is operated as a lifestyle business and we believe owner-operators able to take a more hands-on approach could improve profitability levels.”

Originally opened in 1846 and operated as a coaching inn called The Regency, the property has views over the bay and beyond.
