Oxford hotel plan for former private club gets the green light

A former private club in Oxford is to be converted into a new hotel after transformation plans were given the go ahead.

The ground floor of the old Crown House Club at 10 Crown Street in Cowley is vacant and now EST8 Investment Ltd has had a proposal approved to add bedrooms and a reception desk to the property.

The development would see seven bedrooms and a check in / out desk installed on the ground floor, with the first floor becoming home to a further nine bedrooms.

The second floor would be transformed to comprise a small flat for staff accommodation.

According to a design and access statement prepared by Oxford Architects, the “sympathetic refurbishment and change of use of the existing building to form a new, small hotel provides a new, positive facility in the neighbourhood and gives an existing building a new lease of life”.
