Paul Bayliss is to take over the role of general manager at Hotel Brooklyn in Manchester, ahead of the new property’s launch in early 2020.
Bayliss joins from his role as managing director at Macdonald Hotels’ Highlands division and Aviemore Resort since August 2018.
He was also named Independent Hotelier of the Year in 2017/18.
Hotel Brooklyn will become the sister property to Hotel Gotham and operated by Bespoke Hotels. The new hotel will comprise 189 bedrooms, a top-floor bar, conference space, Brooklyn Heights and Runyon’s, a ground-floor destination restaurant.
Prior to his time at Macdonald Hotels, Bayliss was general manager at Cheshire’s Carden Park Hotel.
He also enjoyed a lengthy career in the British Army, spanning 24 years and in positions ranging from apprentice chef to commissioned officer.
“I am delighted to be leading the team at Hotel Brooklyn, as we look to make an immediate impact across Manchester and the North West”, said Bayliss. “I have kept a close eye on the success of Hotel Gotham in recent years, and have a deep affinity for the city, so I’m excited by the challenge of making a similarly positive impact here.”
“We are very thrilled to have secured Paul’s services as we look towards a 2020 launch” added Graham Marskell, managing director of Bespoke Hotels. “Hotel Brooklyn is a significant opening for us, in the heart of a city we have grown extremely fond of in recent years. Paul’s outstanding track record and deep connections to Manchester will prove invaluable in the coming months.”
Hotel Gotham opened in April 2015 and has since enjoyed great success among guests and the hospitality industry.
