Peach brand takes next step to becoming £35m-a-year business as hunt for new hotels ramps up

Peach, a booming boutique hotel and pub brand, has taken its next step towards becoming a 22-strong £35m-a-year business, with a new director appointment.

The group, which currently consists of 17 pubs and hotels, has appointed its first property director who will now be in charge of sourcing and acquiring new properties under the independent brand name.

Simon Bishop joins with more than 20 years of buying and developing properties in the UK pub and leisure sectors and will now look to bring a further 5 establishments into the Peach collection

A chartered surveyor by background, Bishop was previously acquisitions director for Rank Leisure, where over a five year period he advised the group on buying sites for its leisure portfolios. Before that, he spent eight years at Scottish & Newcastle Retail purchasing and developing sites for its managed pub and hotel divisions. He also worked for Whitbread in a similar role.

Bishop will work alongside the senior Peach team to source and acquire new properties that fit nicely into the Peach stable, as Peach co-founder Hamish Stoddart explains:

“In Simon we have found an extremely experienced pair of hands with exceptional knowledge of the pub and leisure market. He’ll be able to open the doors to the great new pubs we’re after, and his arrival is perfectly timed; we have funding available to buy new pubs and are stepping up the pace to hit our next growth target. We want a couple of new pubs in the pipeline for early 2017 and are actively looking for more,” he says.

Bishop is already looking for properties, whether leasehold, freehold, existing pubs or new leisure properties that Peach can take on and has a clearly defined target area.

“I’m on the hunt for properties we can develop into more fantastic Peach pubs and keen to look at any fitting the bill,” he says. “Peach are great operators with a great product and a great way of working and I’m excited to be helping them become even more successful.”
