Leading dog-friendly holiday company PetsPyjamas has announced plans for an ambitious expansion into Europe, as the nation’s love of travelling with their pooches shows no signs of abating.
As part of the expansion, the company has pledged to sign up 1,000 new properties, with 500 in France and 500 in Italy by the end of 2018.
Following a 100% year-on-year rise in trip enquires since 2014, PetsPyjamas’ growth campaign will bring a boost to UK dog-friendly properties as it works to target Europe’s pet owners and champion the UK as a dog lovers’ destination.
Co-founder of PetsPyjamas, Karen Hanton comments: “The travel and hospitality industry is waking up to the true value of the Hound Pound. Pet owners are willing to stretch their budget a little further if it means their dog can come too. Customers travelling with pets tend to drink and dine on site throughout their stay because their pet can be by their side, or close by in their room, which in turn drives up a higher spend per guest.”
PetsPyjamas works their travel partners to create exclusive packages, all-inclusive deals and extras just for the dog, which delight the owner just as much as their four-legged friend to capitalises on the lucrative ‘hound pound’.
Owner of The Cary Arms in Devon, Peter de Savary says: “As the owner of six dogs, I adore dogs and where possible, I personally prefer a holiday where they join me.
“Working with the dog-friendly specialists PetsPyjamas has been a happy and successful partnership for us. Their customers are incredibly respectful and considerate of other guests, and the dogs always so well behaved. Their expertise has helped us double the number of pet-friendly stays across our hotels and the prospect of canine visitors from Europe is a new group of customers we look forward to welcoming at The Cary Arms and our other pet-friendly hotels.”
Launched in 2012 by the founders of toptable.com, PetsPyjamas originally started as comprehensive market place for pet accessories. Enthused by enquiries from customers on where they could travel with their pet, the company added dog-friendly travel to their offering in 2014.
Fast forward to 2018 and the company now leads the pack for getaways that are truly dog-friendly, with their expert Pet Concierge team booking pet lovers into more than 2,000 pet-welcoming hotels, cottages, manor houses, pubs with rooms and stylish B&Bs.
PetsPyjamas dog-friendly packages and pets go free are standard, saving owners on additional pet supplement fees, all four-legged guests receive a personalised pet travel kit worth £20 at their destination. The company also hosts an annual Dog-Friendly Travel Awards, recognising the special destinations, who lead the way by offering a pet-friendly experience for customers.
PetsPyjamas has chosen the Year of the Dog to launch their Travel Edit – the world’s first premium travel brochure for dogs.
