The five-star Palé Hall in North Wales has announced the appointment of a new general manager as Pim Wolfs steps down from his role to join Dormy House Hotel.
The luxury property, owned by Alan and Angela Harper, will see Harry Shepherd step in to lead the team, five months on from his appointment as operations manager.
Since then Shepherd has worked alongside Wolfs to prepare for his departure, ensuring a ‘smooth transition’ for the owners and the business.
Wolfs is now planning to move to the Cotswolds to head up Dormy House Hotel, part of the Farncombe Estate, with Andrew Grahame CEO saying they ‘couldn’t be more excited to welcome Pim to the team’.
Grahame says: “He brings with him a wealth of experience and extensive knowledge of the industry, with a personal and detail-driven approach to hospitality. We are positive that with his passion and expertise, Dormy House will continue to flourish in new and exciting ways.”
Wolfs has been general manager at Palé Hall since it’s launch in September 2016, boasting a background with the likes of Le Manoir.
Speaking about his departure, Pim commented: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at Palé Hall and it’s been a fantastic experience to launch the hotel and share this journey with Alan and Angela. I made them a promise that I would not leave until we had found the right person to step into the general manager role, and I have no doubt that Harry is indeed that person and I proudly hand over the reins to him.”
Owner Angela Harper is delighted to welcome Harry as the hotel’s new general manager, saying: “Since Harry joined Palé he has continued the hotel’s quest for excellence. It was clear to us from the beginning that Harry had what it takes to be the perfect general manager for us.
“We will be very sorry to see Pim go, he has behaved with great honour during this process, ensuring great succession planning and he leaves with our love and respect.”
Speaking about his new position, Harry comments: “I have enjoyed my time at Palé Hall so far and I’m delighted to be taking over as general manager. The high standards of the hotel, our wonderful location in the welsh countryside and its continued strive for excellence makes it an exciting place to work, and I’m pleased to be taking on the leadership as we continue to evolve and build on our already prestigious reputation.”
The five-star Grade-II listed Palé Hall opened in September 2016 after a year-long renovation programme headed up by hospitality newcomers’ headteacher Angela and former Vodafone boss Alan.
Chef Michael Caines MBE consulted on the food offering at the property and head chef Gareth Stevenson oversees all f&b operations.
