After launching one of the most impressive new hotels of the 21st century almost two years ago, Pim Wolfs decided to take on a new challenge when he was appointed general manager at Dormy House Hotel just last month.
Coming from Pale Hall, where he oversaw the opening of what was to become a five-star property alongside ‘rookie’ hoteliers Alan and Angela Harper, Wolfs will now head up the team at the Cotswolds’ gem Dormy House and hope to replicate the success he achieved at Pale Hall.
Described as a ’firm but fair manager’, Wolfs was recruited for Pale in 2016, prior to its launch, and manage to forge a team, got operations, health and safety, computer systems, housekeeping and training in place one month ahead of the opening. Always happy to step into any role, from cleaning to running the pastry section, Wolfs leads by example and knows the heart of any successful establishment is its team.
Under his guidance, Pale Hall achieved five AA stars, 3 AA Rosettes, a 98% Visit Wales rating and moved from 20% occupancy in September 2016 to well up in the 70s a year later.
A modest man with no head-honcho ego, Wolfs ensured Pale Hall would still shine after his departure and trained operations manager Harry Shepherd to take over the role to the best of ability. Now preparing to move to the Cotswolds to Dormy House Hotel, Wolfs takes with him a great reputation and a ‘personal and detail-drive approach to hospitality’.
