Plans for new boutique hotel in Liverpool One get the green light

Plans for a new boutique hotel in Liverpool One has been given the go ahead by planning bosses.

The new property is being developed by YPG, a company founded by Ming Yeung, and will see the Russell Building on School Lane transformed into a 50-bedroom boutique.

The six-storey building will include a rooftop bar, a gym, coffee lounge and office space, as well as a restaurant and bar planned for the second floor.

The hotel, once complete in spring 2019, will be named the Russell Hotel after the building in which it will be based.

It’s been reported that YPG is in advance talks with an operator to take over the project.

Announcing plans for the hotel earlier this year Yeung, managing director of YPG, said: “These are exciting plans that will deliver a high quality hotel, run by a very prestigious operator with a brilliant track record, in one of the most popular cities.

“Liverpool’s visitor economy is worth £4.7 billion every year and Liverpool ONE is at its heart.

“Liverpool ONE’s reputation for the quality of its offer and the experience it provides for visitors have been our inspiration.

“Our plans will create a landmark hotel that will provide something special that complements both Liverpool ONE and the wider city centre.”
