Plans for new York hotel redesigned after feedback from local council

A plan for a new hotel and restaurant in York has been changed following feedback from locals and the council.

The buildings at 105-127 Micklegate – comprising the Jinnah restaurant, Minster Car Hire and Bar 127 – have been earmarked for redevelopment by North Star.

Once complete, Wilde Aparthotels by Staycity will occupy the majority of the new building with a hotel.

Now North Star has been made to redesign the original scheme after hearing feedback from residents and the city council.

DC Architecture has worked with heritage practice Marcus Beale Architects on the project.

A spokesperson from North Star said: “We have taken on board all the feedback from the previous designs and have gone back to the drawing board with the proposals.

“The new plans respect the historic setting and add new life to this magnificent street.

“The level of support to replace these buildings has been very encouraging as many local people see them as detracting from the setting of Micklegate.”
