Plans lodged to transform office into new hotel in Birmingham

Plans have been submitted to Birmingham city centre to convert an office building into a new hotel and hostel.

Prosperity Capital, the developer behind the Globe Works scheme in Birmingham’s Gun Quarter, wants to transform St James House at 17 Horse Fair and add three floors to the building which sits above the O2 Academy.

If given the green light, the building would be home to 94 serviced apartments and 64 ‘boutique hostel’ in a scheme designed by Cartwright Pickard.

The proposals include provisions to “acoustically separate” the upper storeys of St James House from the O2 Academy.

St James House had recently been granted planning permission to be changed into 70 apartments.
