Plans unveiled for second site from new hotelier duo to join ‘Bike and Boot’ brand

Following the news that the former MD at Devonshire Hotels and Restaurants is spearheading the launch of a new hotel brand, it’s been revealed that plans for a second site are well underway.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Simon Rhatigan, former managing director at Devonshire Hotels and Restaurant until 2016, and Simon Kershaw, ex-chairman of the northern region of the British Hospitality Association, purchased the 50-bed The Mount Hotel in Scarborough, to kickstart their new Bike and Boot hospitality brand.

The acquisition was part-financed by a £2.8m loan from OakNorth with money now being ploughed into a transformation at the site before reopening The Mount in summer 2019.

The duo plan to open a total of four hotels under the new brand, with their second site, a new-build 80-bedroom hotel in the Peak District expected to be complete in 2020.

First acquisition, The Mount will increase its bedroom number to 59, and create a 100-cover bar and grill restaurant, as well as an in-house cinema and retreat lounge.

Prior to his time with Devonshire Hotels and Resturants, Rhatigan was MD at Feversham Arms Hotel and Verbena Spa in Yorkshire, which under his tenure, went from being a 17-bedroom pub to a multi award-winning 33-bedroom luxury hotel.

Bike & Boot founders, Simon Rhatigan and Simon Kershaw, said: “We are very excited to be launching this new hotel concept and feel this beautiful site in Scarborough is the ideal location to get started. Our hope is that Bike and Boot will offer a unique escape for not only tourists but also for locals who might wish to visit the restaurant or cinema.”
