Raithwaite in Sandsend has won planning approval to expand its inventory by 30 bedrooms.
The Estate near Whitby has been given the green light to add 30 bedrooms to Raithwaite Hall to take its total room count up to 75.
The Hall currently has 45 bedrooms, with another 28 in The Keep, smaller hotel on site and The Lake House, a luxury six-bedroom exclusive-use private house.
The new extension will be taller than the existing hall and will be the first thing visitors see when they pull up to the hotel.
The supporting documents lodged with the council by the Raithwaite Trading Company stated: “The additional accommodation (and some internal reconfiguration) is needed to provide the hotel with the level of accommodation and upgrade in facilities required to position itself as a leading and high-quality hotel within the borough.
“The proposal will help Raithwaite Estate to make a greater contribution to Whitby and the surrounding area through the provision of enhanced tourist accommodation and facilities.”
Earlier this year, Raithwaite appointed Alejandro Torecilla as general manager, promoted from his role of hotel manager where he had been for five years.
Raithwaite is managed by Inntelligence.
