Ravenstone Manor sold to local operators off guide price of £1.35m


19th century Lake District manor house Ravenstone Manor has been sold to local operators off a guide price of £1.35m, in a deal completed by Christie + Co.

The hotel, situated in Keswick, Cumbria in three hectares of gardens, has been acquired by the Mawdsley family, who are stepping up expansion of the family hotel and leisure enterprise Mawdsley Bleachers Ltd.

Originally built as a Dower house for Lady Charlotte Howard in 1860 as a place of rest and relaxation, the property is home to 20 bedrooms which have recently been refurbished, plus a detached one bedroom cottage and a two-bed owner’s accommodation.

Previous owner Martin Oakley has restored and updated Ravenstone Manor to an high standard over the years and made the decision to sell to relocate closer to family.

Keith Stringer, associate director at Christie & Co who handled the sale comments: “Christie & Co was delighted to have been instructed by Mr Oakley following a period whereby the property was unsuccessfully marketed by another agent. Following a short period of open marketing with us, a deal was agreed within four weeks, with completion eight weeks later.”
