Christie & Co has reduced the asking price of The King’s Head Hotel, a Grade II listed Lakeland inn with six bedrooms.
The two-storey detached riverside inn in Ravenstonedale, Cumbria, which has recently undergone a refurbishment, now has an asking price of £450,000 for the freehold as its current owners look to retire from the business.
Alongside the six bedrooms, the property comprises 32-cover lounge and bar with a feature stone fireplace and 50-cover restaurant with beamed ceiling that overlooks the river.
In addition, the property includes a two bedroom apartment, suitable for use as accommodation for a manager or owner-operator.
The Metcalfe-Gibson family has owned the property since 1892 and now wish to sell as they look forward to retirement.
Christopher Metcalfe-Gibson comments: “The King’s Head is a much loved family business and I am sad to be selling, but the time is right to now move on and enjoy my retirement. I very much hope to find the right buyer who can continue to build on the solid foundations of this traditional Cumbrian pub.”
Keith Stringer, director at Christie & Co who is handling the sale, comments: “The reduced asking price presents potential purchasers with a fantastic opportunity to acquire a beautiful, historic inn set within a picturesque Lakeland setting. Offering plenty of scope to increase trade, we expect the business’ revised pricing to be well received by the market.”
