Rothay Manor, a boutique hotel and restaurant in Ambleside is expanding on its substantial renovation, with new bedrooms being developed a year ahead of schedule.
The hotel will soon start its latest phase of work on a former bungalow with its grounds, transforming the building into eight new bedrooms, and once complete in January 2022, will be known as The Pavillion.
The project will take the total number of bedrooms at Rothay Manor to 26.
Having completed a milestone first phase £1.25m renovation, reimaging the bedrooms in 2020, co-owners, and husband and wife duo, Jenna and Jamie Shail have used this most recent lockdown to expand on their original plans, pushing ahead with the second phase of renovation works a year earlier than they first anticipated.
Working with Dynargh Designs to oversee the creation of The Pavilion the new bedrooms are large private spaces and are complemented by the services and amenities of the hotel.
The team are also improving the guest experience by introducing a new boot room and dog wash.
The hotel’s reception area is also being reimagined, so that it will soon sit between two buildings – and relandscaping the terrace and gardens beside it.
Work is already underway, and the aim is to have the new-look reception area, boot room and dog wash completed by June.
The works will conclude a five-year renovation project at Rothay Manor, which dates back to 1823.
The Rothay Manor renovation began in 2017 with the reimagining of the reception area and drawing room, followed by a number of bedrooms and the restaurant. The most recent completed development in the renovation is the Fairfield suite – work is now underway on the new Pavilion.
