Scottish restaurateur pairs up with Italian wine producer to launch new specialist wine hotel

A boutique hotel dedicated to showcasing wine and all its glory is to open this month in Edinburgh.

The Wine House Hotel 1821, located in Picardy Place in the city, is a new concept brought to market by Italian wine producer Zonin1821 and Scottish restaurateur Sep Marini.

Set in a Georgian townhouse, the new boutique is home to four bedrooms, each inspired by Zonin1821’s iconic Italian estates, a wine bar and cocktail lounge.

The real jewel in the crown is the newest conception, the wine library, designed by Claudio Silverstrin. Here guests can experience the Cru wines of Zonin1821’s estates in stylish surroundings with red marble from Verona, sleek lines and warm wood.

Sep Marini is owner of the Viva Italia Group, which includes chain Tony Macaroni, Mozza, ice cream retail outlets Nardini, Tony 2go and Marini fish and chip shops.

The Zonin family have been working in wine for almost two centuries and now own nine different estates.
