Now a planning application has been submitted to Sevenoaks District Council, which states the “demolition of existing hotel buildings in order to facilitate erection of a four storey residential building”.

This will be made up of eight two-bedroom and one one-bedroom apartments, as well as off street parking for 10 cars.

As part of the application The Moorings Hotel was visited by Bruton Knowles, property consultants who were tasked to give their opinion on the property.

They described the fixtures and fittings as “functional at best”, and said that “the rooms are generally small with limited space” and the sanitary facilities were “basic and somewhat cramped”.

The report also described the current condition of the property as “average to poor in quality terms”.

The Moorings Hotel has been approached for comment, but has not yet responded to the request from Boutique Hotelier.
