Clacot Hotel

A hotel in Calcot is to undergo an extensive refurbishment after being taken over by SGS Hotels.

The three-star Calcot Hotel Best Western in Bath Road has been sold to the group who now plan to revamp the property’s public areas, frontage and a collection of bedrooms, with work planned to start immediately.

The 78-bed hotel has been owned by the Dunn family since 1975, with director Ian Dunn saying he wished SGS Hotels ‘every success for the future’.

The planned refurbishment will also include cleaning and repainting the roof, acquiring new furniture and laying new carpets.

Now with SGS Hotels at the helm, it will be business as usual with the hotel operated by the same management team and staff as before.

Mayank Gulati, director at SGS Hotels, added: “We are constantly on the lookout for exciting new acquisition opportunities, either with branded or non-branded hotels.

“We saw the Best Western Calcot Hotel as an ideal opportunity to expand our offering in a prime location.”

SGS plans to finish the refurbishment work by the beginning of 2017.
